Heavy rains have been constantly pouring on the center of France in the last couple of days and it has taken its toll on the town of Romorantin especially... House of the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! museum.
About 20 Matra prototypes have been submerged like the Espace Sbarro , the Rancho and the Bagheera U8.

Since yesterday, As you can see in the video, the workers of the museum have been trying hard to keep the cars above the water line but it was not enough. As the level rose to about 4 feet of water in the main hall this morning, up to the steering wheel for some cars.
The main expo called La France Qui Gagne (“Winning France”), with the most valuable cars has not been affected.
More info on the museum’s !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

NO NOT THE RANCHO

Exactly my reaction. Probably also TFritch’s.

I still want that Espace. Water damage and all.

Oh no! That’s terrible. I visited that place in 2015. The flooded area contained Matra’s concept cars (likely all of them) and examples of their Espace/Avantime production.

Nooooo, not the Matra museum, I hope they can repair or save most of them. Would be a shame if the Bagheera U8 and the other concepts were lost.

You the same French man that had bought that e46 M3 back in 2011 and put it on some BBS LMs?

Hope that one can be saved, it looks to be a Grand Raid, an offroad-ier version. Too many Ranchos have already been taken from the world, they need to save this one!

No chance. When they finally get rid of the water this is what will be left of the Rancho:

Probably, though it will be hidden under the fibreglass.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Although of those cars, it probably has the best chance of driving out of there.

*cries
I’m relieved it didn’t reach the competition cars, I could not handle seeing an MS670 underwater.

*gears turning slowly*
This means there’s now a flood-damaged but otherwise nice Rancho out there that needs some love...

RamblinRover and I have a plan to “save” one by putting an old Audi quattro driveline and 1.9L VW TDI in it, a project which has preemptively been dubbed the Maudi Quancho.

Easier for you to ship to me that way.

That sounds horrible and great at the same time. Though I would like the idea of a modern Renault diesel and a Scenic RX4 drivetrain more.

Yup same man. I sold that car a few years ago, how the hell do you remember that?!
(I still have those wheels)

Those bits are hard to get here in Freedomland. Mostly this came about because we have a mutual appreciation for the Rancho, and I already have all the Quattro parts and a 1.9TDI core sitting around. The old Quattro setup is nice because it’s subframe based with McPherson struts, and would be easier to fabricate mounts for all around.

Well maybe you remember me, I used to go by e30m3, but seeing as I actually got an E90M3, I figured it was more fitting. Long time no see. Here’s what I’m driving around in.

Well, that sucks. Looks like a lot of their most interesting cars have been destroyed, and, since many of them are prototypes and one-offs, not like they can be replaced.
Not sure if it’s the case with the Matra museum or not, but a lot of cars on display in museums are not in running condition. If that’s the case here, they could just wash them down really good after the waters recede and keep them on static display.

Also, I might actually interested

Cool car and damn! You remember a lot of stuff!
I haven’t been actively trying to sell them but since I’m not using them, why not? But man... They’re in the south of France and are crazy expensive...

They’d be nice, but I’m not looking for new wheels right now. I just had remembered that from a couple years back
